Computers, by their very nature, continually destroy potential evidence (good or bad) simply by being used on a regular basis. When it comes to litigation, parties have a duty to preserve evidence and to avoid spoliation of evidence.

Unfortunately, many lawsuits involving discrimination or intellectual property theft may not happen until 6 months or a year after the incident. During that time, evidence in the form of e-mail, chat transcripts, and more can be overwritten should the computers remain in-use.

Vestige will perform a complete acquisition of a hard drive without tainting any of the data on the computer. We will verify that the data is accurate and an exact copy of the original is made. We will establish a chain of custody form and lock this copy of the hard drive image away for safe keeping. Should the need arise to analyze the evidence at some future point in time, we can easily retrieve the copy and begin analysis.

The process is entirely confidential and is a cost-effective way of preserving evidence for potential future litigation.
