Ohio Office of the Inspector General
Damon Hacker, President & CEO of Vestige Digital Investigations presents:
USING DIGITAL FORENSICS TO IDENTIFY & INVESTIGATE FRAUD
Today, white-collar criminals focus the majority of their efforts in the digital realm. A fraudster could be sitting at a desk in the next office or half-way around the world – with a belief that because the digital trail is not as visible as the physical trail, that it is harder for them to get caught. This presentation examines the large volume of digital evidence that exists and how digital forensics can be used to uncover fraudulent activity. Additionally, the presentation examines advanced techniques and methodologies that allow investigators to effectively find and investigate fraud either in an individual case or as part of an on-going fraud prevention program. Participants will learn how digital devices are being used in financial frauds and what types of digital evidence might be useful for both identifying & investigating fraud. The presentation will identify unique tools and techniques used to accurately and efficiently flag financial data as potentially fraudulent and ensure evidence authenticity and admissibility.
